Non-stop sporting action hits the Mother City over this weekend

Cape Town is in for an exciting weekend of sporting action from 5 – 7 December 2025. The Proteas Women kick off their 2025/26 cricket season in the Mother City while the Blitzboks are defending their SVNS Cape Town title and Cape Town City FC continues its climb up the league table.
The Proteas Women will kick off the weekend of sports with a T20 international match against Ireland at Newlands Cricket Ground on Friday, 5 December.
This is the team’s first game on home soil since its historic Women’s Cricket World Cup run that saw the team make its maiden ODI world cup final.
Gates open at 13:00. The first ball is at 14:00.

SVNS Cape Town
On Saturday, 6 December, SVNS Cape Town, the ultimate rugby fan and lifestyle experience hits the Mother City for its 10th anniversary edition in Cape Town.
With 40 games between World Rugby Seven’s top men and women’s teams, the tournament will be a display of speed, skill, and non-stop action at DHL Stadium.
Also featuring electrifying live performances by Jimmy Nervis and YoungstaCPT as well as a DJ battle between DJ Alicious101 and DJ Chelsea Sloan, refereed by DJ Ready D, SVNS Cape Town will once again show why it's the biggest party in town.

Spectators are encouraged to make use of the free MyCiTi shuttle to the stadium to alleviate congestion and avoid sitting in traffic.
MyCiTi will shuttle ticket holders from the Civic Centre, Thibault Square and Stadium stations on Saturday and Sunday.
With stadium gates set to open at 09:00, the first bus will leave the Civic Centre at 08:30.
The first game kicks off at 10:00.
The last bus will leave the stadium station at 21:30 on Saturday and at 19:30 on Sunday.
Those making use of the bus can find parking at the CTICC (paid parking), the Civic Centre and on-street parking.
At the Civic Centre, the City will open its 475 parking bays for ticketed rugby fans on a first-come, first-served basis from 07:30. The parking areas are accessible from Hertzog Boulevard incoming and on Civic Road.
For E-Hailing, there will be a dedicated drop off area on P14 in Green Main Road between York Road and Wigtown Road.
Residents and motorists are also advised that Fritz Sonnenberg at Bay Road, Stephen Way at Fritz Sonnenberg, Vlei Road at Helen Suzman Boulevard and Granger Bay Boulevard at the Green Point A-Track Parking will be closed to traffic from 06:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
Cape Town City FC
Cape Town City will go head-to-head with Highbury FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship at Athlone Stadium on Saturday.
The Citizens will be looking to close the year strong after an impressive run that has seen the team win three games and draw one in the last four matches.
Kick-off is 15:30. Entry to the game at Athlone Stadium is free. Tickets can be collected at the stadium booth on Hickory Street, Athlone.
